Lightning Rods

“Lightning Rod” is a specific technique for running TCRCs.

• It's Safer. It gets dps off the grid and makes aggro switches predictable.
• It's consistent with several other communities and how some FCs in this community already run it.
• It allows lower dps fleets to kill Deltoles and Outunis quickly.

Select 2-3 high damage Kronoses as the “Lightning Rods”. Generally single-boxing Bastion badges are preferred as their focus is less divided, but dual-boxers can be used when jumping both characters. Most bastion badged Kronoses make for good Lightning Rods.

On TCRC entrance, the call is “Lightning Rods jump to tower, everyone else bastion one cycle on beacon and shoot Deltoles, Outunis, and Ostis.”

• 1-5 Deltoles
• 6-7 Outunis
• 8-9, A-C Ostingeles
• Make sure you tag one Osti X (or J)

Optional: When the dps has bastion time left over on the beacon after shooting all the Ostis, you can send a boxer with 2-3 Paladins to jump to the right of the tower and kill the 5 Yulais that are within 30k there. This is called the Paladin squad. With 3 Paladins, the Yulais will die quickly. (Some pally boxer pilots will volunteer for/do this for you on their own)

• The aggro should bounce between the Lightning Rods pretty consistently. This makes switches more predictable. Do be aware that if one of them does not bastion (such as from a split or a bad bump) and you only have two the second swap can be slow and go somewhere weird.
• Ideally all the Deltoles, Outunis and some of the Ostis are killed at the beacon before the main fleet jumps to the tower. If there are Deltoles or Outunis left over, have snipers kill them when they come into range.

• On entry, activate your MJD as soon as your speed swaps from “warp” to an actual speed AND the MS has full aggro.
• While your MJD is spooling up lock the tower (and optionally the Auga and the two X-tagged Schmaeels).
• As soon as your MJD finishes spooling verify you are at the tower and not moving at high speed from bouncing. If you are moving at high speed quickly Q-align towards the tower first, then hit your bastion button and start shooting the tower. Immediately drop your medium drones and assign them to also attack the tower.
• Make sure you are watching the wave for aggro around the time you have 20-25sec left in bastion to see when they swap. If it is coming to you broadcast for shield and let the FC and logi know how long until you are out. Do be aware that the Romis can and will swap separate from the main room; assuming you have good plates they can be bastioned through.
• If you have the room on you, continue to shoot the tower. It can be worth it to reload towards the end of your aggro period if the fleet is slow, to prevent needing to reload later while potentially in bastion.
• If you did not take the aggro swap hit bastion again immediately when it finishes to try and take the second swap.
• Once aggro swaps off of you if the tower is not in hull yet immediately hit bastion and inform the FC and logi that the room is swapping.
• As LR you should always be running drugs for the extra damage and hence aggro to keep it consistent. (Honestly don't be cheap: use them all the time, a single site pays for your drugs unless you're using DB9.)
• Most of the time as LR you don't have to overheat. If you have two LRs that are extremely close in damage you will sometimes need one or the other (but not both) to use heat to prevent them splitting aggro repeatedly. With time the LRs will learn who they need to do this with.
