Training Nestor
The Training Nestor (TN) program has the following rules:
Cruiser hours are not required
Only one FC needs to sign off to give an L badge
1) 2)
Rules
Only one TN in a fleet at a time
A trusted Nestor pilot must sandbag for the TN (a TN does not count towards your Logi count)
TNs must have no starter skills (no red skills)
A TN should have the proper fit and pod. No Saviors or single sebo before badged.
The TN should fly in multiple fleets before being given the L badge
Guidelines
The TN process has three main phases:
Familiarisation:
During this phase pilots learn how manually pilot their Nestor. They learn to anchor and manage their locks, capacitor and reps. During this phase, the sandbag should be flying and repping as normal as the TN cannot be counted on to be providing reps. Once you and the TN are comfortable with their ability to manage their ship, then you can move to phase two “Following Lasers & Reps”.
Following Lasers & Reps:
This is when the designated sandbag Nestor starts sandbagging. The TN is expected to be able to provide reps in a timely manner per the guidance below. They should be able to call switches and identify who has aggro. If at any point the sandbag feels like the aggro target isn't getting enough reps they should step in and inform the FC.
Testing:
This is the final phase of training and where you test a TNs grid awareness and general competency. TNs do not need to be as good as a seasoned L badge before you promote them, to an extent they need practice they can only get with flight time, but once you feel confident that the TN is good enough to fly without a sandbag you can give them an L badge.
Awarding an L badge
When you choose to give someone an L badge congratulate them on a job well done, update their training thread on Discord and close it (you may need to ask an admin to do this) and add them to the following:
Logi Specialist server group on Teamspeak
The Logi Specialist list on the waitlist - this needs to be done for each of their pilots that might fly the Nestor. Make sure they have the required skills and implants
The Nestor Pilot role on the discord (if applicable).
Testing Scenarios
Every TN must demonstrate competency in the following areas:
Rep Cycles
Dump six reps (not the ancil), decycle to three when stable
Dump three and decycle to two when there is split aggro
Ancil rep should be pre-heated and is for emergency use
When to call for “More Reps” and “Battle Reps”
Rep Ranges
29KM Optimal
37KM Falloff
54KM Activation range
Rat Knowledge
Scrams: Tama Outuni Auga Deltole Schmaeels
Neuts: Outuni > Niarja > Deltole
Jams: Arnon > Niarja
High DPS: Deltole (820 DPS Kin/Exp), Tama (300 DPS Kin/Exp)
Ancillary Reps
The “In Case of Emergency” rep
Should be pre-heated
60 seconds (nanite) reload time
Shorter ranges: 24km optimal
Other
Grid Awareness
Logi out of position
Missing boosts
Advanced Testing Scenarios
TNs are not required to demonstrate competency in the following areas but you may wish to test them on these as well. If a TN doesn't get one of these answers right, turn it into an educational experience so they and the rest of the fleet can learn more.
